After mainland Tanzania withdrew from the East African Examinations Council, in 1971 and before NECTA enacted the Act, in 1973, the Ministry of Education’s Curriculum and Examinations Section was responsible for all examinations. With the introduction of NECTA, Examinations became its legal responsibility.
